North Fort Myers Rotary raffling off wheelbarrow full of adult beverages
With COVID handcuffing the North Fort Myers Rotary in terms of what it can do for fundraising, it has come up with a novel way to raise money.
It will raffle off a wheelbarrow full of adult beverages.
Tickets are $10, with 3 for $20. The drawing will happen during its weekly breakfast meeting on Thursday, March 11, at 9 a.m. at the Three Fishermen’s Restaurant.
The winner need not be present.
Wendy Murray, who is organizing the raffle, said it was one of the safest ways to raise money for Rotary’s many causes.
“Our big fundraiser, the golf tournament, was cancelled last year as well as a few other things. We thought of what would be a good fundraiser that we can do where we don’t need a lot of interaction, and we came up with the wheelbarrow full of booze,” Murray said.
Murray said the raffle has been successful in many other Rotaries. Every Rotarian brought in one bottle of their favorite alcoholic beverage and put it in the wheelbarrow.
All the liquor is top shelf. The person who wins will be receiving a pretty good value.
So far, ticket sales have been tremendous, Murray said.
“Even if you don’t drink much or at all, these bottles make great gifts for housewarming parties and the holidays.
“There are people who say they don’t drink certain alcohol, but there are a lot of bottles in there and they make great gifts,” Murray said. “The Rotary does so much good. The money goes toward scholarships, the toy project, it does a lot of good.”
Tickets are available at the North Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce office or by calling Wendy Murray at 707-6722.
