Burrowing Owl Festival

The annual Burrowing Owl Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Rotary Park Environmental Center in Cape Coral, hosted by the Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife.

Entertaining and educational programs, hands-on activities for children, guided nature walks, butterfly house tours and bus tours to active owl burrows. There will also be demonstrations on how to install a starter burrow on your property in the hopes of attracting a burrowing owl to your lawn.

Kindness Animal Hospital’s Kids Corner has lots of hands-on activities for the kids. Cape Coral Police will give a K-9 demonstration and the Cape Coral Fire Department will have one of their fire trucks available for the kids to see.

Cost is a $5 requested donation for adults, with children under 16 free. Parking is free.

New this year is a special photographer’s bus tour with a knowledgeable tour guide and an expert in bird and wildlife photography. You will have a chance to photograph burrowing owls as well as other unique wildlife in Cape Coral. Tour departs from Rotary Park at 7:30 a.m. (meeting time 7:15 a.m.) and returns approximately 10 a.m.
