Family fun goes to the extreme at Yacht Club

By Staff

Whether it be laser tag or shooting a little hoops, it is guaranteed to be a night of fun to the max for the whole family.

The debut of X-treem Family Play Night is coming Friday to the Cape Coral Yacht Club Community Park for extreme fun for the whole family from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

“We wanted to do something that incorporated the outside and cater to families of all ages,” said Theresa Hart of the Yacht Club, who is putting together this event, which she hopes will become a regular event. “We have things for kids from age 3 to adulthood.”

Kids will have an opportunity to do just about everything, from playing a round of laser tag, to getting the whole family in the “wrecking ball,” a game where participants throw large balls at each other while standing on a platform, to see who’s the last man standing.

Among the many activities are an inline obstacle course and games for the little ones ages 3 and up, a basketball hoop, and lots of fun games and activities to add to the awesomeness.

“There will also be an area where kids can play pin the tail on the donkey, glow-in-the-dark Frisbee and ring tosses,” Hart said. “We will also have cornhole and tailgating and other fun yard games.”

The cost is $18 per child which includes three hours of non-stop play for all the activities. Light snacks and drinks will be provided, and mom and dad are admitted free.

Also, according to Cape Information Officer Connie Barron, the city will close the boat trailer parking lot on the north side of the park on Floridian Court from midnight to 10:30 p.m. Friday.

Boaters can continue to use the trailer parking lot adjacent to Driftwood Parkway by the marina and tennis courts.

The payoff is an evening of fun for the whole family.

“Mom and dad can go in and play many of the games. Over half the activities can be played by kids between 6 and 60,” Hart said. “It’s going to be a fun evening, so get out and play.”

Advance registration is recommended. For additional information or to reserve your spot, call the Yacht Club at 574-0806.
