City to replace water line valve Dec. 26

By Staff

The city of Cape Coral’s Utilities Department will be doing a valve replacement project near Santa Barbara Boulevard Wednesday, Dec. 26, at 9 a.m. The project will cause an interruption of water service to 244 homes and businesses in the area. Water service could be off for up to six hours, although city crews may complete the project more quickly.

The area impacted is bordered by Southeast 21st Lane to the north, South-east 5th Avenue to the east, Southeast 23rd Street to the south and Southeast 1st Avenue to the west. In addition, customers along Santa Barbara Boulevard and Santa Barbara Place from Southeast 21st Street (north) to Southeast 24th Street (south) will have service interrupted.

Due to the temporary loss of water service, all homes and businesses in this area will be under a precautionary boil water notice until the Lee County Health Department issues clearance to the city. The city will issue a media advisory on Dec. 26 to remind residents/businesses that the “boil water” notice is in effect.

The city will follow up with another advisory when the Health Department issues the clearance notification.
