Cape man injured in traffic crash released from hospital
A Cape Coral driver has been released from the hospitalize after his semitrailer collided into a van and a cable barrier on Interstate 75.
Clarence Nauer, 46, had been discharged as of Friday from Lee Memorial Hospital, where he was taken after the accident, according to officials.
On Oct. 30, Nauer was traveling southbound in the center lane near mile marker 122 when he swerved into the inside lane, colliding into the right side of a 2004 Ford van, according to a report by the Florida Highway Patrol.
The van was being driven by Allen Kenter, 46, of Fort Myers.
Kenter pulled off the road, and Nauer returned to the center lane.
The report states that Nauer then traveled back into the inside lane and crossed the paved emergency lane, eventually colliding into a cable barrier before continuing southbound. He finally came to rest in the center lane.
Nauer was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Emergency personnel reported that he might have been experiencing a medical condition prior to the crash. The accident was not alcohol related.
According to the FHP, Nauer was later cited for careless driving.
