Traffic signal work to temporarily alter traffic in county

By Staff

The Florida Department of Transportation had issued the following traffic advisory for Lee County. Crews are replacing hanger systems for traffic signals at intersections. Nighttime/overnight work continues tonight from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. to Wednesday morning, Nov. 21, weather permitting, and depending on location will require short duration lane closures (about one hour). As some intersections, traffic signals may operate in “flash mode” (flashing yellow for the main street/flashing red for side streets). Drivers should expect some delays.

Law enforcement also will be on site to direct traffic if work requires temporary suspension of power to signal.

Crews will complete one intersection (possibly two) each night and plan to work seven nights/week.

Tonight crews will work at SR 82/Immokalee Road at Gateway Boulevard, SR 82/Immokalee Road at Gunnery Road South/CR 876/Daniels Parkway and BUS US 41 at Pondella Road/Cardinal Drive. Intersections next on the schedule through Tuesday night/overnight Nov. 27 are: Business US 41, SR 739/Metro Parkway and Laurel Drive, SR 78/Pine Island Road/SR 78/Bayshore Road, Pondella Road/Cardinal Drive, SR 82/Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard/Business US 41, South Street, Edison Avenue, Market Street, Daniels Parkway (this order is not necessarily sequential).

No work will occur Wednesday night, Nov. 21, through Monday morning, Nov. 26. Project completion is expected late spring 2013, weather permitting. The contractor is American Lighting & Signalization, Inc.
