Comedy For Kids Cancer fund raiser

Caleb’s Crusade and the Groove Street Comedy Club will present Comdy for Cancer on Thursday, Sept. 13, at Groove Street in Fort Myers.

Doors for the fund raiser will open at 6:30 p.m.. The even also will feature a silent auctiona nd 50/50 raffle.

Great River Duck Race

Oma’s Heart will be hosting its first Great River Duck Race at Sun Splash Family Water-park in Cape Coral Saturday, Sept. 15. Race time is set for 5 p.m. Santa Claus will be on hand to release 1,000 little rubber ducks into the Lazy River at the city waterpark. Prizes will be awarded to the “owners” of the first, second and third – and last – ducks in. Ducks will be available to purchase up until the race. The cost is $5 per duck, 6 for $25, 12 for $50 and 25 for $100. There is no cost to see the race. For information, go to www.omasheart.org

Peace Day in the Park

The fifth annual Peace Day in the Park will be held at Jaycee Park Sunday, Sept. 23, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. “Peace Day in the Park 2008” kicked off the annual celebration as a grass roots project with a simple goal, to spread the awareness that a single day of peace does in fact exist – Sept. 21, the International Day of Peace! This is a free event to be enjoyed by all, and there will be something for everyone.

The Resort at MarinaVillage and Tarpon Point Marina will host the inaugural Rhythm And Reels Redfish Tournament and Music Festival in Cape Coral Oct. 5 through Oct. 7. This three-day event is centered on the Redfish Tournament offering multiple cash prizes, including a grand prize of $8,000!

Concerts and local music will be featured at the Music Festival Grounds at Tarpon Point Marina starting on Friday, Oct. 5 through Sunday, Oct. 7. Habitat for Humanity looking for volunteers

Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties is in need of volunteers. They have construction, office, Thrift Store, special events and bulk mailing volunteer opportunities. Visit www.habitat4humantiy.org.

Restore in North Fort Myers and Bonita Springs is looking for volunteers who are able to assist with phones or help load and unload trucks. Shifts are Tuesday through Saturday from 9 am to noon or noon to 4 pm.

Office positions are available Tuesday through Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm. They are looking for volunteers that can volunteer on a regular basis and help with office functions, such as answering the phone, greeting clients, filing, etc. Computer experience is preferred.
