The Cape Coral Fire Department welcomed seven new firefighters to its ranks Thursday afternoon at an official “pinning” ceremony. The Firefighter Recruit Class of 2012 includes FF Michael Tarsia, FF Martin Redovan, FF Lucas Heikkila, FF Joseph Doviak, FF Mathew Casola, FF James Carroll III and FF Brian Campbell. The ceremony was held in the main meeting room of the old Public Safety Building at 815 Nicholas Parkway. The new firefighters completed six weeks of training and orientation, and will begin shifts starting Sunday.
