A Naples man found unresponsive in his cell shortly after noon Friday died despite lifesaving efforts, officials said.

Sebastian John Balliro, 41, of 275 Flamingo Ave., was discovered unresponsive in his single cell at the Lee County Jail, 2115 Martin Luther King Boulevard, Fort Myers, at approximately 12:29 p.m., according to a release from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

Medical personnel from the jail immediately responded and began CPR until EMS arrived and continued life saving measures. Despite all efforts, the inmate died, the release states.

The incident is being investigated as a suicide.

The manner of death is not being disclosed at this time as the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit continues its investigation pending the result of an autopsy, officials said.
