The Cape Coral Historical Museum will be closed during the months of July and August.

With a campus of three buildings surrounded by a memorial rose garden and a native plant demonstration garden, there are many exciting exhibits to view. Going back to the time of the homesteaders through the unique history of Cape Coral, the story is well told.

Exhibits on the old Rose Garden, which closed in 1970, is aptly displayed with a mural depicting what was in the gardens as well as the original bust of presidents and celebrities which were on display at that time. Also featured, the Cape Coral Country Club, Nautilus Inn, Surfside Restaurant, Yacht Club, and more on early Cape Coral.

A Military Room dedicated to our veterans can be seen complete with collections of uniforms, ships, planes, lead soldiers and much more.

Featured also is the history of city government as well as police and fire departments, firsts, schools, parks, businesses and a 1960s room.

The Native American Display has an extensive collection of artifacts including a woolly mammoth tooth found in Cape Coral.

Starting Wednesday Sept. 5, the museum will be open Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, from 1-4 p.m. The museum will also have many activities from October through May, including guest speakers each month.
