Sheriff’s Office seeks help in IDing copper theft suspects

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is seeking help from the public in identifying two suspects in the theft of copper from commercial air conditioning units in Gateway in March.

The two men wanted for questioning were caught on video, said officials, who released photos of the incidents Thursday.

Deputies had responded to a report of copper thefts in the 11900 block of Fairway Lakes Drive in the Gateway subdivision of Fort Myers on Monday, March 26. The copper tubing had been stolen from the air conditioning units of three businesses.

Detectives working the case located video of two men stealing the copper. They are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying these subjects.

The video reveals the thefts took place on Saturday, March 24, between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.

Anyone with information on the identity of these individuals is asked to call the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at 239-477-1000, or to remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).
