Rental car company reports theft of auto

By Staff

A rental car company in Cape Coral reported that a vehicle rented three months has not been returned to its location or the drop-off location.

Police responded Tuesday to a report of a stolen vehicle at the Hertz, located at 902 Del Prado Blvd., S. An employee stated that a customer rented a 2011 Chevy Malibu, with the Texas tag BZ7N093, on Feb. 18.

The customer was supposed to return the car on Feb. 20 to a location in West Virginia. However, the Chevy was not returned to either location.

The employee added that it has not been returned to any Hertz location.

The company tried to contact the customer via his cell phone, but it was turned off. A certified letter that was sent to the customer was returned as undeliverable with no forwarding address noted, according to a police report.

Hertz only has the man’s name and a P.O. Box number in West Virginia.

The Chevy, which is silver, is valued at approximately $11,325.
