TALLAHASSEE The Florida Department of Elder Affairs’ SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders) program launched their newly redesigned website, www.floridaSHINE.org on Tuesday.

The new site offers quick and easy access to resources. Visitors will be able to stay informed with the latest news in health care and insurance, submit information requests to program staff, and even apply to volunteer with the program.

The dramatically redesigned site embodies the program’s forwardthinking vision and commitment to the growing needs of Medicare beneficiaries and their representatives, officials said.

The new site offers:

– rich content provided by staff and counselors from across the SHINE network

– direct access to SHINE counselors and staff from every page

– a more user-friendly navigation and accessibility controls

– a streamlined resources page and a new search feature

“In an effort to make finding information about SHINE and Medicare an easier and streamlined experience, we are thrilled to launch our new website,” said Anne Rogers, statewide director of the SHINE Program, in a prepared statement. “We hope that it will become an information hub that better serves our clients, partners, and volunteers.”

Annually, thousands of users visit www.FloridaSHINE.org to search for SHINE-hosted Medicare enrollment events, local SHINE counseling site hours of operation, and fact sheets and other resources.

As Florida’s only source of free, unbiased Medicare and health insurance counseling and assistance, the SHINE program is made possible in part by the more than 450 volunteers who dedicate their time to provide Medicare recipients with coverage information. Their work helps to save many of their clients thousands of dollars in prescription and health care costs.
