Police looking to identify attempted burglary suspects

By Staff

The Cape Coral Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying two men who tried to break into a Texaco gas station on Burnt Store Road at 1:46 a.m. May 5.

In video surveillance, a dark colored vehicle is seen backing out and parking away from the lights at the pumps. Then, two men dressed in dark colored clothing and wearing dark masks over their faces, run over to the north door of the gas station. One man begins to strike the door with some type of long instrument. The other man stands next to him with a large black gym bag. The man holding the bag also starts to kick the glass.

After approximately 20 to 30 seconds, the men give up and run back to the vehicle.

They did not gain entry into the gas station due to the glass being hurricane resistant.
