Man accused of having sex with stepdaughter
A Cape Coral man has been accused of having sex with his teen stepdaughter.
The man, whose name is being withheld by the Cape Coral Breeze to protect the victim, was arrested and charged Friday with sex assault by custodian sexual battery victim 12 years of age to under 18 years of age and lewd lascivious behavior victim 12 years of age offender 18 years of age or older.
As of Wednesday, he remained at the Lee County Jail on $750,000 bond.
On Friday, Cape police responded to a local high school in reference to a teenager who was alleging that she was sexually abused by her stepfather.
The teen told authorities that starting in February, her stepfather would bring her into his bedroom after school, where he would have sex with her. She said this occurred a few times a week while her mother was at work.
The girls’ brothers were home when the alleged assaults took place.
According to an arrest report, the teen’s stepfather told her, “If you say anything, you will ruin your life and my life.” He also told the girl that he was doing what he was doing because he loves her, and not to tell anyone of it.
When questioned by authorities, the teen’s brothers reportedly confirmed that their sister and father would go into his bedroom together after school.
The teen also reported that when she was 12, her stepfather had her sit naked on his lap and he would inappropriately touch her. The girl said she told an aunt, who informed her mother. Her mother reportedly confronted her stepfather.
The stepfather reportedly denied the allegations and left home. A few days later, he returned. No incidents took place again until a few months ago.
The teen’s mother said she was not aware of any prior allegations.
The man has a court appearance scheduled for June 11.
