Teacher reports administrative leave over Twitter account
A charter school teacher was reportedly placed on unpaid administrative leave Thursday over postings to an online website that he did not make.
The teacher, a Cape Coral resident who works for Gateway Charter High School, filed an information report with the Cape police. He stated that he was called out of his classroom and put on leave over a Twitter account.
He said he does not have a Twitter account and never has.
Police searched the social networking site and found an account in the teacher’s name that appears to have been opened at the start of 2012. Some postings had profanities and inappropriate comments and photos.
According to the report, the teacher believes that a former student may have opened the account. The student had opened a fake Facebook account in his name, but the account was closed. The child now lives out of state.
