‘Sculpture: An Invitational’ at Alliance for the Arts
For most, the word “sculpture” probably brings to mind things like statues carved from stone, or pots or figures made of clay, but the term represents a much broader diversity of mediums and techniques. Sculptural works of all shapes and sizes, in all sorts of mediums, by more than 18 south Florida
artists, will be on display in the main gallery at the Alliance for the Arts during the month of May.
The “Sculpture: An Invitational” opening reception is Friday, May 4, from 5-7 p.m. Sculptors include Kyle Jackson, David Hatchett, Lily Hatchett, Jim Krieger, Tracy Hoogervorst, Lindsey Wollard, Gerry Stecca, Deborah Mitchell,
Tim Smith, Steve Kalb, Steve Clegg, David Meo, Jerry Churchill, Glen Gunderson, Sara Thee Campagna and Anica Sturdivant.
Come see 3-D works made of wood, plastic, paper, clay, metal, recycled objects, found objects, fabrics and even clothespins. Some are free standing, while others sit on pedestals or hang from the wall or ceiling.
David Meo will lead a Gallery Walk and Talk on Saturday, May 5, at 10
a.m. The exhibition will remain on display until May 26.
