Hall’s contract not renewed with Southwest Florida Symphony

By Staff

The Southwest Florida Symphony announced Monday morning that Music Director Michael Hall’s contract will not be renewed. According to officials, Hall will pursue other options.

In a release announcing the decision, symphony officials said they wished to thank Hall for his services and musical contributions, and wished him the best as he moves on.

Symphony officials also said the 2012-2013 season will be presented as programmed and will be led by guest conductors and feature outstanding solo artists performing with the orchestra. Michael Berkowitz, Steven Jarvi and Richard Kaufman will serve as guest conductors on the Pops series. Soloists to appear on the Masterworks series include internationally acclaimed pianist Joyce Yang, Grammy-nominated violinist Jennifer Frautschi and Pricila Navarro, winner of the Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competition in 2012. Jim Stephenson returns to conduct the Holiday Pops.

In addition, our performances at Sanibel BIG ARTS, and Shell Point will continue as well.

A thorough international search process will take place to appoint a new music director for the Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra.
