Police seek man who attacked off-duty corrections deputy in home driveway

Cape Coral Police are seeking assistance from the public In identifying the man who attacked an off-duty Charlotte County Sheriff’s corrections deputy Saturday morning.

The deputy arrived at his residence in the 1200 Block of Sothwest Santa Barbara Place at 6:20 a.m., locked his vehicle and began walking towards the front door. He then realized that he forgot his cell phone and walked back to his vehicle.

The deputy was confronted by a man armed with a pocket knife. The man attacked the deputy and slashed his forearm. After a brief struggle, the knife-wielding man fled northbound on Santa Barbara Place on a bicycle.

The suspect is described as a clean cut white male in his early 20s, about 5’10, 170-180 pounds. He was wearing a black T-shirt and black pants. He fled on a mountain-bike style bicycle.

The corrections deputy drove himself to the hospital where he was treated for his injuries and released.
