Sunday’s ‘Yacht Hop’ to benefit Symphony Orchestra
On Sunday, April 15, a Yacht Hop event will be held to benefit the Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra at the Marina at Cape Harbour.
The event will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will include – besides “yacht hopping” – food, music and a treasure hunt that will let one lucky hunter win a diamond and sapphire ring.
The event is being hosted by the Southwest Florida Symphony Society and Realmark Development.
A member of the society, Mary Ann Sedlock, who has and will continue to take reservations for the event said, “It’s going to be a wonderful event because we have several yachts where people can hop aboard, and we have six restaurants participating with wonderful treats and wine. There will also be a group of singers called The Salty Singers, and a magician there doing various acts for us. A big feature is a treasure hunt featuring a diamond sapphire ring for the winner.”
The treasure hunt will run throughout the entire event.
“And all proceeds benefit the Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra,” she said.
“The Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra Society is the fund-raising arm for the orchestra,” said Event Chair and incoming president Mary Laurel. “Funds will be used for their operating budget, helping to pay for the performances. We are an entirely volunteer organization and involve a lot of people in this kind of event, which makes it a lot of fun.”
Laurel said the diamond ring was donated by Zak’s Jewelry in Cape Coral.
It’s valued at $3,495.
“The two yacht brokers we are using are Marine Max in South Fort Myers and Galati Yacht Sales, located right there in Cape Harbour.”
Wild Bill Wood, Fox 4’s host of the Morning Blend also will be there.
“We ‘captured’ him and put a ball and chain around his ankle. People will be able to donate ‘ransom’ for his release. He has been just great,” said Laurel.
Concerning the yachts for the hop, Galati Sales Manager David Hirshberg said they will be offering a new model Four 2012 by Cruisers Yachts.
“It’s called the 41 Cantius. Some are of the features are two staterooms, two head, with a sport coupe style.
“Other features include a fully hard enclosed salon area complete with entertainment system, luxury seating, hardwood flooring, a wet bar and sun roof.”
Food and wine will be provided by restaurants The Joint, Rumrunners, Run Agrounds, Pignoli on the Harbour and Irresistible Confections.
The cost is $50.
