An anonymous tip led to the arrest of a Cape Coral man on Tuesday in connection to a stolen credit card being used at several area stores.

Robert John Neglio, 26, of 4407 S.W. Seventh Place, was charged with larceny grand theft $300 less than $5,000, fraud impersonation attempt to use ID of another person without consent and fraud illegal use credit cards use more than two times six months obtain goods money $100 or more.

As of Wednesday, he remained at the Lee County Jail on $8,500 bond.

According to officials, a woman reported to the Cape police on Jan. 11 that her vacation home had been burglarized as she slept. She awoke to find that thieves stole a notebook computer, a Kindle Fire tablet and her credit card.

On Jan. 16, Cape police responded to 4928 Viceroy Court for an occupied burglary in which a person had been shot. The reported shooter and others were arrested, and a search uncovered the womans computer and tablet.

The victim recovered the stolen items and reported that there had been fraudulent activity on her stolen credit card at stores like CVS, Hess and 7-Eleven. Officers obtained the surveillance video and identified a suspect.

Those involved at the Viceroy Court shooting identified the man in the surveillance video as “Paesan,” a street nickname, officials reported. Police released the photos to the media and Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers.

An anonymous tip was received identifying Paesan as Neglio. During an interview with police on March 27, Neglio reportedly confessed.

He was taken into custody and charged.

Neglio has a court appearance scheduled April 30.
