After a three-year hiatus, the popular Sounds of Jazz & Blues event is returning to Cape Coral on Saturday, March 24.

VIP seating sold out last week, said City of Cape Coral Parks & Recreation Special Events Coordinator Todd King, and advance tickets sales went exceedingly well all week.

“One of the reasons this event is making an amazing comeback is the partnership with the Resort at Marina Village and the aesthetics of the venue,” he said.

“And this musical genre – Jazz and Blues – transcends ages one to 100. We anticipate a very diverse and fun audience, participating in a very special night in Cape Coral.”

Presented by the City of Cape Coral Parks & Recreation Department and many community sponsors, the concert will feature both national recording artists and local talent.

The headliner is contemporary guitarist/vocalist Steve Oliver. Oliver incorporates music styles from global genres with a mix of pop/rock/soul and contemporary.

His “Fun in the Sun” single from his Global Kiss CD topped the World Jazz billboard charts in 2010, and two additional singles have cracked the Top 20 chart.

“Steve Oliver was an opener for us probably four years ago,” said King. “He did such a great job as an opener he was a natural choice for the return of the event.”

Entertainment also will be provided by the popular local band Deb & the Dynamics, Gruv Therapy out of Gainesville and Duke Danger from West Palm Beach.

“We also have The New York Front, out of New York, a regional act from that area.”

It is festival seating – attendees can and are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn or beach chairs. Coolers are not permitted.

“There will be food and beverages available at the venue.”

Gates will open at 3 p.m. and the music will begin at 4:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $15 at the gate.

The Resort at Marina Village is at Tarpon Point Marina, 5951 Silver King Blvd.

“We are anticipating a large crowd,” King said.
