CCPD announces ‘Tweet from the Beat’
The Cape Coral Police Department is happy to announce a fun and exciting addition to its Community Engagement Program – “Tweet from the Beat.”
Next week, the CCPD will take people inside of the department and inside of a police car as they “ride along” with a member of the department via Twitter.
Throughout the shift, the department member will share what an officer sees and does on Twitter via text updates, pictures and video “tweeted” live from the field. No editing or scripting.
People following @CapePD on Twitter will be able to ask questions and interact directly with the officer.
“Tweet from the Beat” is a Twitter exclusive, so if those not on Twitter yet must go to: www.twitter.com and sign up. It only takes a few seconds and it is free. Once signed up, be sure to follow the CCPD’s Twitter “handle,” @CapePD.
“The Cape Coral Police Department’s ‘Tweet from the Beat’ event is part of our ongoing effort to improve communication and partner with the citizens through our Community Engagement Program,” Lt. Tony Sizemore, spokesman for the CCPD, said. “By getting people interested in what we are doing and getting them talking to us on Twitter, we are able to reach a large portion of the population instantly when something happens where we need instant community awareness or involvement.”
