Authorities have identified three people, including a man from Cape Coral, who were injured in a head-on collision in Buckingham last weekend.

Charles Trei, 21, was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital following the traffic crash, along with Michael J. Carter, 42, and Jason Wilson, 34, both of 19750 Little Lane, Alva, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

Trei and Wilson were listed in fair condition as of Friday.

Hospital officials reported that Carter was not in their directory.

At 9:37 p.m. Sunday, deputies responded to an accident on Cemetery Road, just east of Skates Circle. Carter was driving an Infiniti east when the car collided head-on with a westbound Mercedes-Benz, being driven by Trei.

Carter and Trei sustained serious injuries in the crash.

Wilson, who was a passenger in the Infiniti, was seriously injured.

According to the LCSO, an investigation revealed that the Infiniti was traveling at a high rate of speed and crossed into the westbound lane.

Charges are pending against Carter, authorities reported.

The investigation continues.
