A Cape Coral man was arrested Wednesday after he reportedly sexually battered a teen girl between the ages of 12 and 18 years old.

Anthony D. Higgins, 18, of 1158 S.E. 36th St., was charged with one count each of kidnap false imprisonment adult, battery over 18 years of age cause under 18 contact with body fluids and sex assault victim over 12 years of age physical force no damage. He was booked into the Lee County Jail.

As of Thursday, Higgins remained in custody at the jail on no bond.

According to an arrest report, the Fort Myers Police Department received a call about a sex offense at about 7:14 p.m. The victim said the man was still in the area. When officers arrived, they were flagged down by the teenager.

She pointed out a man, later identified as Higgins, walking down the street as the person who assaulted her. Police made contact with and detained him.

The teen told officers that the sexual battery occurred on an air bed that was in the bedroom of the residence. Detectives collected and photographed the bed linens on the air mattress before submitting the items as evidence.

At the jail, Higgins’ clothing was collected and also placed into evidence.

The teen underwent an interview and exam, according to the report.

Higgins also provided detectives with a statement about what had occurred.

No court appearance had been scheduled for him as of Thursday.
