Cape man apprehended after barricading himself in home

By Staff

A man sought by the Cape Coral police was taken into custody last week after he barricaded himself inside of a residence for several hours.

Andrew Sosa, 18, of 1142 S.E. 19th Terrace, was apprehended Thursday by the Fort Myers Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Task Force. He had a warrant issued for his arrest for a violation of probation, according to local officials.

Cape police wanted Sosa for a reported occupied burglary and battery.

At 8:37 p.m., local authorities received information that Sosa was at an apartment in the 3600 block of Pine Oak Circle in Fort Myers. Upon arrival, officers spotted him inside the apartment and knocked on the front door.

Sosa refused to come out, according to officials.

The owner of the apartment gave officers permission to enter the residence, at which time authorities learned that Sosa had barricaded himself in the attic. After more than four hours, he finally gave up.

Sosa was arrested and charged with violation of probation, resisting arrest without violence, burglary, battery and criminal mischief, officials reported.
