Burglary victim hospitalized

By Staff

A Cape Coral man remained hospitalized Wednesday after police found him unconscious in his home hours after he reported it had been burglarized.

At about 3:30 a.m. Monday, Cape police responded to a check-up request in the 1300 block of Southeast 11th Terrace. The caller stated that they were concerned about the welfare of the resident, according to the police report.

The officers made entry into the residence through an unlocked window and located the man unconscious on the bed in the master bedroom. He was then transported to the Cape Coral Hospital Emergency Room, the report states.

Hospital officials reported Wednesday that the man is in good condition.

It was the second time police responded to the home in less than a day.

At about 6:30 p.m. Sunday, officers were dispatched to the home for a report of a burglary. The man told police that he had been on vacation, and when he returned home, the front door was open and items were missing.

The stolen items are valued at $8,999, according to the police report.

The items include a 42-inch flat screen television, a PlayStation 2, 20 PlayStation games, a laptop computer, a digital camera, an iPhone 4, two 14-inch men’s bracelets, a 20-inch men’s gold chain and Sony Surround Sound.

The man also reported that an unknown amount of his medications were stolen, as well as about $350 in coins and cash that were stored in a jar.

He had found the rear slider and a window to the residence also open.
