Air conditioning unit taken from Cape home
An air conditioning unit was reported stolen Monday from a home.
Cape Coral police responded to a report of a grand theft and a criminal mischief in the 2800 block of Southwest 39th Street. A man told officers that someone had taken the 5-ton unit, which is valued at about $5,000.
The man also reported that his pool pump was damaged. The copper tubes were cut – causing $1,000 in damage – as if someone tried to take it.
According to a police report, both items were reported to be intact on Saturday.
The man told police that he had hired a landscaping and tree company to clear the brush and trim the trees at the home. They showed up Saturday, but it looked like no additional work had been done after he left the home.
Officers took digital photographs of company’s business card.
