Woman arrested in prostitution sting will not be prosecuted

By Staff

Earlier this year the State Attorney’s Office dismissed charges against a Cape Coral woman who was caught up in a countywide prostitution sting.

In February, the state nolle prossed – did not prosecute – the charge of offer commit engage in prostitution or assignation filed against Melanie Lynn Williams, 39, of 829 Gleason Parkway, Apt. 4. It was dismissed because she completed a pretrial diversion program, according to court documents.

Assistant State Attorney Geraldo Olivo handled the case.

Attorney Thomas Busatta represented Williams.

In June 2010, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit conducted Operation Summer to target individuals who were allegedly soliciting sex via Internet ads.

The operation netted 13 people on prostitution and narcotics related charges.

Also charged was Crystal Lucinda Lewis, 24, of the 200 block of S.E. 47th St.

In October, she was adjudicated guilty on one count of offer commit engage in prostitution or assignation and received 12 months of county probation. A second charge of possession of marijuana over 20 grams was nolle prossed.

Assistant State Attorney Bryan Kaufman handled the case.

Attorney Steven Wetter represented Lewis.
