Lane closures, shifts set for Cape Coral Bridge
Demolition and reconstruction at the toll plaza continues at the foot of the Cape Coral Bridge.
Beginning Tuesday, Aug. 23, through Wednesday, Aug. 24, during the nighttime/overnight hours of 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., the westbound lanes of the Cape Coral bridge will be closed to traffic. Crews will be setting up barrier walls for a new traffic pattern at the Cape Coral Toll Plaza.
Access to the Landings, Caloosa Yacht and Racquet Club and Magnolia Point will be maintained.
At 6 a.m., Aug. 24, motorists can expect the four westbound lanes to be shifted to the south (lanes 1 through 4 will be shifted to lanes 5 through 8).
Effective immediately, “oversized load” trucks are not permitted through the travel lanes of Cape Coral Toll plaza (in either direction). This includes oversized load trucks with state permits. Oversized load truckers should use the Midpoint or north bridges for access to Fort Myers while the toll plaza is under construction. For updates on all lanes closures, traffic shifts and construction progress, please visit the project web site at www.LeeBridgeConstruction.com.
The project is expected to be complete by spring, 2012.
