South Cape CRA, Kiwanis Club promote special flag display for 9/11 remembrance
The Kiwanis Club of Cape Coral and the Cape Coral Community Redevelopment Agency have been planning a special way to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy. A special commemorative flag had been designed for businesses to display for the entire month of September, and the Kiwanis Club awarded a matching grant to the South Cape CRA to share the cost to purchase 100 of these 3-foot x 4-foot commemorative flags.
In April, the CRA made these flags available free of charge to businesses in the South Cape CRA district provided that the businesses agree to display the flag in a prominent location in the front of their business from Sept. 1 to Sept. 30, 2011. The placement of the flag should allow it to be easily seen from the thoroughfares in the CRA. The support of the CRA businesses has been tremendous and the CRA no longer has any flags remaining.
Though the CRA has distributed its supply of flags, if anyone is interested in obtaining a flag to display, they can be purchased for $25 at The Kiwanis Thrift Store located at 708 S.E. 47th Terrace.
All businesses that received a 9/11 flag from the CRA also agreed to provide a digital photo of the 9/11 flag flying in front of their business so an appropriate collage display can be prepared to further commemorate this act of remembrance.
