NWNA to hold candidate forums Aug. 29 and 31

By Staff

The Northwest Cape Coral Neighborhood Association Inc. will host a two-night Cape Coral City Council Candidates’ Forum Monday, Aug. 29, and Wednesday, Aug. 31, at 7 p.m., at Mariner High School auditorium, located at 701 Chiquita Blvd., North (at the corner of Tropicana Boulevard). Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for seating. The forums are open to the public.

All registered voters in Cape Coral are eligible to vote in all the district races in the primary election on Sept. 13.

Cape Coral City Council seats in Districts 2, 3, 5 and 7 are up for re-election this year, and there are 18 candidates seeking 4-year terms in the four districts. In order to thoroughly hear each candidate’s positions on the issues, two nights have been set aside for the forums. The NWNA will announce in advance of the forums the candidates who will appear during each of the two evening forums.

Event planners are Alex McAlister, Rick Williams and Rich O’Donnell. The forum moderator will be Alex McAlister and the timekeeper will be Dan Fitzgerald. The NWNA was formed by area residents to provide an open forum for discussion of issues of general importance to members. NWNA membership is open to all residents and property owners north of Pine Island Road and west of El Dorado Blvd. For more information about NWNA, please visit www.nwcape.com or email nwna@nwcape.com.
