A Cape Coral man is accused of breaking into at least two residences and stealing a couple of laptop computers that he later sold for cash.

John Michael Coppertino, 32, of 901 S.E. 26th Terrace, was charged by the Cape police with multiple counts of dealing in stolen property, burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, larceny grand theft and fraud false owner information pawned items $300 or more on Wednesday.

As of Thursday, he remained at the Lee County Jail on no bond.

According to an arrest report, Coppertino burglarized a home in the 200 block of Southeast 23rd Terrace and stole three laptop computers on June 12. Two days later, he burglarized a home in the 1500 block of Southeast Fourth Place and stole a laptop computer and a large amount of jewelry.

Cape detectives tracked down one of the laptops through LoJack.

The man in possession of the computer told detectives that he bought two computers from a man that he had met a couple of times for $200. He had a third computer in his possession that he was supposed to fix for the seller.

Detectives seized the computers and identified Coppertino as a suspect.

The buyer and a second person identified Coppertino as the seller, the report states. The seized computers matched the ones reported stolen.

Coppertino was located at the jail, where he was in custody on multiple unrelated charges, and charged in connection to the Cape burglaries.

He has a court appearance scheduled for Aug. 1.
