Man remains hospitalized following head-on crash
A Cape Coral man remained hospitalized Wednesday after the ATV that he was operating collided head-on with a dirt bike operated by a teen driver, who was fatally injured in the crash.
Matthew Buldo, 28, of 206 S.W. 37th St., was listed in stable condition at Lee Memorial Hospital. He was trauma-alerted to the hospital Tuesday night after the crash happened in North Fort Myers off the Del Prado Extension.
The operator of the dirt bike, Ronald Koger, 13, of 1804 S.E. Seventh St., was also transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to officials at the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Koger was riding westbound on Rapallo Way at about 5 p.m. as Buldo was headed eastbound. A witness reported that both took evasive action to try to avoid one another.
Koger was ejected from the dirt bike, and Buldo sustained a head injury.
The LCSO’s Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the accident.
