Deputies dispatched to a report of a person floating face down in the water Monday found a body floating approximately 100 yards west of the Punta Rassa Boat Ramp.
The call came in at at 11:20 a.m.
A boat with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission retrieved the body from the water and transported it to the dock at 17800 McGregor Boulevard, Fort Myers.
The victim was a white male, approximately 45 years old. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death, which at this time appears to be accidental, officials said.
The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause of death.
