NFM Chamber’s second annual Community Treasure Hunt moving along

By Staff

The North Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce’s second annual Community Treasure Hunt, complete with pirate theme, is off to a great start. Chamber officials have announced that this year’s online hunt is already bigger and better, and are announcing more prizes.
Ellsworth’s Heating & Cooling Inc. is giving away a free air conditioner unit including installation, and BJ’s Wholesale Club is offering a $100 gas card.
There also is free singing lessons for three months by Huffmaster Music in North Fort Myers. Cape Coral Eye Center, on Bayshore Road, is offering 10 free eye exams for children 18 and under. Belks Department Store is providing a free back-to-school shopping spree.
Additional prizes to be announced will include free groceries, Visa cards and family fun packages for the summer and more, said Chamber Executive Director Kim Constantine.
The event, a 45-day website treasure hunt campaign followed by a live event Saturday, July 30, started June 15.
“We had an immediate response to the online hunt as soon as it started,” Constantine said. “Already hundreds have been online.”
Last year 10,000 participants played on line and last year’s festival brought over 500 people to enjoy prizes and giveaways.
“I know we will have many more than that this year,” Constantine said.
The Title Sponsor is The Breeze Newspapers and North Fort Myers Neighbor.
“One important thing to note is that, at the event, the first 150 kids receive a backpack and school supplies,” said Constantine.
She said that was an incredibly popular part of the live event last year. North Fort Myers Honorary Mayor Michelle Brisendine will present the packs, with supplies from Marco Office Supply.
The Great Community Treasure Hunt ends at The Shell Factory & Nature Park Saturday, July 30, where the treasure chest and prizes will be unveiled and given to the community treasure hunters who were successful navigating through the 10 treasure maps.
Answers to clues about chamber members will be found either on the chamber website, member’s websites, or those of local businesses.
The July 30 event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“There will be a large Business Exposition with giveaways and The Shell Factory will provide discounted family package for all to enjoy fun in the park,” Constantine said. “We are also taking advantage of the new Doggy Heaven Sports Park at the Shell Factory for the live event. You can bring your dog in a best-dressed pirate outfit and your dog will win a prize.”
