A Cape Coral man is accused of performing sexual acts over a computer web-camera for what he believed was a 14-year-old girl.
Phillip Walter Trott, 49, of 3218 S. Santa Barbara Blvd., was arrested and charged Thursday with two counts of obscene communication use computer to seduce solicit lure child and one count of marijuana possession not more than 20 grams.
In March, Cape detectives received information from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office that an undercover officer posing online as a 14-year-old girl had made contact with a person identified as Trott, according to a report.
Trott reportedly invited the “teen” to view his web-cam, at which point he allegedly performed lewd acts in front of the camera, made sexually explicit statements and solicited pictures from the teen that showed her nude or in a bathing suit.
According to the report, Trott confirms during the chat session that he knows the teen is 14, shares that he is “45” and states, “Age is just a #.”
Cape police initiated an investigation based on the information received and later obtained a search warrant for Trott’s home, executing it Thursday. During the search, officers discovered marijuana cigarettes and marijuana.
According to the report, Trott admitted that the marijuana was his and that the man in the web-cam video was him. Trott denied that he remembered the incident. He was taken into custody by Cape police.
Trott was also charged Thursday with violation of parole.
Trott was released from prison in 2008 after serving eight years for one count each of second-degree murder or dangerous act and possession of a firearm by a felon, according to the Florida Department of Corrections. He was serving eight years of supervision prior to his Thursday arrest.
DOC records also indicate that Trott served time in prison from 1982-1984 after being sentenced to four years for robbery with a gun or deadly weapon.
Denied bond, Trott remained at the Lee County Jail on Friday.
His next court appearance is scheduled for Saturday, June 25.
