Southern Style Salon, a new salon in Cape Coral, will hold its grand opening on Wednesday, June 15, with specials for men and women.
Amy Furnival and Donnie McConnell, owners of Southern Style Salon, have been doing renovations on the facility since last summer.
He said they completely renovated the salon, which gives it a fresh and unique atmosphere.
“It is pretty in here now,” he said. “You have that southern feeling when you come in.”
He has won many awards as a stylist since beginning his career.
“This is a fun way to make a living and make them feel good about themselves,” he said about the 30-year career he began when he was 19. “When you come to a hair salon you always feel happy, it is a sure thing.”
Some of the coupons and specials for the grand opening include a master barber special for men that includes a facial, shave and haircut and seven foil highlights and partial highlights for women.
Furnival said they wanted to hold the grand opening to let people know that they are here. She said everyone knows the salon’s location as First Choice Haircutters, which had been in the location for 23 years.
A fairly new stylist in the market, Furnival said she graduated in 2010 from Cosmo in Bonita Springs and has been working in salons doing men’s haircuts to brush up on her skills, along with working in a nail shop.
She decided to change her career path last year from owning her own website selling patio furniture and beach accessories to a hair stylist because her sister was a hairdresser.
Furnival said after she got together with McConnell six years ago, he had a heavy influence on her and she decided to go to school.
“I have never had a storefront location,” she said about owning her first salon.
She said her new career path has turned out to be a lot of fun, especially since she is a people person.
“You get to meet a lot of people, they confide in you … you get to know the people you are performing services on,” Furnival said.
Furnival said they care about the quality of service they provide for their customers. She said if the customer is not happy with the service they receive they can come back in 10 days and they will do any changes they would like.
“We want to make sure they are happy with the services that they have,” she said.
