A Cape Coral caregiver has been charged with performing a sex act on a mentally disabled man who has autism.
Victor Scott Stewart, 46, of 2529 S.W. 15th Place, was arrested Tuesday and booked into the Lee County Jail on two counts of sexual assault lewd lascivious battery on elderly disabled adult. Bond has been set at $15,000.
According to an arrest report, the Department of Children and Families contacted the Lee County Sheriff’s Office about a possible sex crime. DCF indicated that an inappropriate sexual act occurred between the man and Stewart.
The man lives in an assisted living home and Stewart was his caregiver.
During an interview on May 21, the man told authorities that Stewart had performed a sexual act on him, according to the report. The man said he told Stewart to stop, but Stewart ignored him and continued.
An interview was conducted with Stewart, who denied the allegations.
Stewart was taken into custody and booked into the Lee County Jail, where he remained Wednesday afternoon.
He has a court date scheduled July 11.
