Art League seeks artists for ‘Open Painting’ sessions
The Cape Coral Art League is currently seeking artists who want to participate in Open Painting, which is offered every Wednesday for members and non-members.
Pat Gilbert, who has been a member for the past three years, said they offer Open Painting throughout the year.
The weekly event is held without an instructor to provide a place for artists to come together and work on their own projects.
“It is an opportunity for everyone to get together and bring in their own project and paint,” she said, adding that she has had some people come in with other crafts as well.
Open Painting is held from 1-4 p.m. every Wednesday for $2 for Cape Coral Art League members and $5 for non-members.
Gilbert said the Open Painting session also provides artists with the opportunity to ask other artists to critique their work.
The weekly session typically attracts between 12 to 18 people, depending on their schedule.
“I love it,” she said. “It’s a chance to get away from everything else in the world and spend the time to work on whatever project you are working on. This is my zen time, my me time.”
For those who are interested are encouraged to stop by on Wednesday to check out what it is all about.
“They can always come and visit us and hopefully come another time to paint,” Gilbert said. “We would love to have them meet us.”
The Cape Coral Art League is at 516 Cultural Park Blvd.
