Four Freedoms playground will have restricted access for surface replacement
The south end of the playground at Four Freedoms Park will have restricted access beginning Tuesday, May 31, while the playground safety surface is replaced. The remainder of the playground will be open during the project. Work is expected to be completed by June 3 (weather permitting).
The contractor will be replacing the existing rubber tile safety surface with X-Grass, a synthetic turf that meets all playground safety standards. The rubber tiles were continually separating and creating unsafe gaps in the surface, which required the surface to be removed and reset several times. In addition to being more reliable than the rubber tiles, X-Grass is much cooler.
The work is being done by X-Grass, Inc. at a cost of $27,849. The X-Grass product comes with a 10-year warranty.
Parks staff will be installing a temporary safety fence around the project area. Four Freedoms is located at 4818 Tarpon Court.
