School district, Donnell issue joint statement: No admission of guilt

By Staff

The School District of Lee County and Dr. Derrick Donnell, a district principal who also serves as a Cape Coral city council member, have fully resolved all issues regarding his employment status with the district, officials said late Friday.
“In the best interests of the community, on Tuesday May 3, 2011, Dr. Donnell withdrew his request for a hearing and the District withdrew its Petition for Termination. Dr. Donnell’s withdrawal was not an admission of guilt. Dr. Donnell will be temporarily reassigned to work on the District’s energy conservation issues,” the brief release states.
Donnell faced administrative allegations including that he changed grades, improperly promoted students and sexual harassment related to statements reportedly made. He denied those allegations.
