Fort Myers museums offer free admission for moms
Moms will be admitted free on Mother’s Day weekend at your Fort Myers Museums.
The Imaginarium Hands-On Museum & Aquarium and the Southwest Florida Museum of History welcome all Mothers with free admission on Saturday, May 7, and to the Imaginarium on Sunday, May 8.
Enjoy the final weeks of the Monsters of the Deep traveling exhibit at the Imaginarium which spans 360 million years with a prehistoric reef, giant Megalodon and Elasmosaur to the whales, sharks and turtles inhabiting our oceans today. A discovery center with interactive stations and a 3-D film complete the exhibit experience.
Moms can also share in the fun exploring more than 60 interactive hands-on exhibits that are fun for the whole family. Hands-On Fun Show live animal demonstrations educate and entertain. Mom can sit down and take a break while the tiniest tots enjoy Tiny Town, the early childhood area for children ages 5 and younger, then wander outside to visit Fisheye Lagoon featuring mother ducks, swans, Koi, and turtles.
Just a half mile from the Imaginarium is the SWFL Museum of History. Travel back in time to prehistoric Florida and see the giant creatures that lived with the first humans including a 12-foot Giant Sloth! Proceed through time and explorers into the 21st century via the people and events who shaped our area today. Step aboard a 1929 private Pullman railcar, peek inside a Cracker House, and explore the museum in depth with a bilingual Audio Tour.
Capping Mom’s visit to the Museum is the impressive Darwin & Dinosaurs traveling exhibit. Explore the Origin of Species as you follow Darwin’s biological studies from his epic Voyage of the Beagle through paleontological displays that include a life size Baryonyx skeleton, models, drawings, and journal entries. An exhibit audio tour is included in the Museum admission package.
Both museums are open on Saturday, May, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the Imaginarium is open on Sunday, May 8, from noon to 5 pm.
