Chrome Divas to host ‘Hooters and Scooters’ poker run
The Chrome Divas are inviting all motorcycle enthusiasts to join them in an afternoon of riding for a good cause.
The Divas will host the third annual “Hooters and Scooters” motorcycle poker run on Sunday, April 3, to raise funds for breast cancer care. Participation is not limited to only those who are members of motorcycle clubs, but to all interested in participating. The festivities all begin and end at Hooters of Fort Myers at 4411 Cleveland Avenue in Fort Myers with the first bike out at 10 a.m. Riders and their passengers will travel to designated card drawing stations throughout the Lee and Collier County area including a stop at the Ragged Ass Saloon in St. James City. Once a poker hand has been gathered, all riders must return to Hooters no later than 3 p.m. According to event organizer Donta Morris, this poker run also will not be limited to those riding motorcycles.
“We encourage everyone to participate even if they don’t have a bike. Our aim is to raise money to help those fighting breast cancer, so if anyone wants to participate they can,” Morris said. “Come by bike or car or truck and have a good time for a good cause.”
Registration will take place from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at a cost of $15 per rider and $10 for passengers. All those registered will receive a card to record their hands and there is no limit as to how many hands a participant can collect as long as they have purchased additional hands.
Once completing the poker run, both participants and spectators are welcome to enjoy more activities that will be staged at Hooters of Fort Myers. The person turning in the best hand will earn a cash prize and the participant with the worst hand will be awarded what the Divas’ are referring to as the “Boobie Prize”.
The Chrome Divas will offer several raffles and contests throughout the afternoon. In addition to several 50/50 drawings, the Divas have collected items to be raffled off during the course of events. In addition, the Divas will also award a $100 Harley gift card for the person arriving with the best decorated breast cancer bike. This gift certificate can be redeemed for merchandise at Fort Myers Harley Davidson. Among the highlights of the event will be a special presentation to breast cancer survivors.
All proceeds from the Hooters and Scooters poker run will be donated to the Pine Island based organization, From Our Hearts. A non-profit organization, From Our Hearts is dedicated to raising awareness and funds for breast cancer patients. Money generated from merchandise sales and the annual Breast Fest as well as other donations benefit Partners in Breast Cancer Care who assist in acquiring medical services for breast cancer victims in Lee County who otherwise could not afford it. Through a network of doctors and technicians, Partners assist patients with such services as mammograms, mastectomy and cancer therapy or any other service or procedure to aid in the detection, treatment and recovery from breast cancer.
