$45,000 worth of air conditioning equipment reported stolen
About $45,000 worth of air conditioning units were reported stolen from a commercial structure Wednesday in northeast Cape Coral.
A man told police that four commerical grade air conditioners were stolen from a structure in the 2600 block of Northeast Ninth Avenue, along with a smaller unit in the front office. Each unit is valued at about $10,000, while the smaller unit is worth approximately $5,000, according to a report.
The man recently signed a lease for the structure. On Tuesday, he got the keys. The building was secure and the circuit breakers were off at the time.
Police observed fresh pry marks to the locking mechanism, door and door frame to the structure’s rear door, the report states. Two footprints were processed from several dusty air conditioner filters left behind in the area.
In November, a theft was reported at the same location. In that case, parts were stolen from an air conditioner located on the outside of the building.
