$14,000 in jewelry stolen from Cape home
More than $14,000 in jewelry was stolen Wednesday from a home in southeast Cape Coral, according to a police report.
A woman reported that she left her home, located in the 100 block of Southeast 27th Street, at 11:40 a.m. and returned eight hours later to discover several pieces of jewelry missing from the master bedroom.
The pieces had been located in a dresser and a nightstand.
The missing jewelry reportedly included an engagement ring and wedding band, three wedding bands, various gold and stone rings, a tennis bracelet, gold earrings and gold necklaces, a gold choker and two bangle bracelets.
The woman told police that she remembered locking the entire house, but that she left the small kitchen window slightly open. The woman returned to find that the window screen had been bent and removed, the report states.
Police noted that it appeared the burglars exited through the front door.
The woman told officers that she had recently attended a jewelry party and that she had sold some of her old gold to a company.
She said she had more jewelry to sell, and a copy of her driver’s license was made for their record.
