Temple to host Jewish Food Fest Sunday

By Staff

Temple Beth Shalom will hold its second annual Jewish Food Fest this weekend featuring an abundance of food and fun for the entire family.
Event organizer Laurie Warren said they started the event as a way to reach out to Cape Coral, along with providing authentic Jewish food to the community.
“Authentic Jewish food such as chicken soup with matzo balls and knishes are specialty dishes that are hard to find here,” she said. “This is the kind of stuff bubbe (grandma) used to make. As a congregation, we have had the pleasure of enjoying these amazing dishes prepared by these folks for the last several years. It was time to share the deliciousness.”
The festival will be held Sunday, Feb. 27, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., at Temple Beth Shalom, 702 S.E. 24th Ave.
The event is free to attend. Warren said that individuals can purchase any number of items from the menu or shop at the local marketplace on Sunday.
Such food as matzo ball soup, corned beef, pastrami and brisket sandwiches, chopped liver, knishes, kugel and hot dogs will be available to purchase Sunday during the festival.
Individuals will also have the opportunity to purchase food through the Food to Go Program, which is offered through the Temple Beth Shalom Sisterhood. Warren explained that individuals can also order food in advance throughout the year.
Menu items include chicken or cabbage soup, matzo ball, kreplach, chopped chicken liver, brisket, kasha varnichkes and rolled cabbage. For more information visit www.TempleBethShalomcc.org.
“It doesn’t have to be just a couple of sandwiches, you can order items such as soup by the cup or by the quart, six knishes or a full tray of kugel,” Warren said.
The festival will also have a local marketplace featuring jewelry, fused glass, Tastefully Simple, assisted living, Joey’s Greyhounds, free kid’s ID by the Cape Coral Police Department, bake sale items and a free bounce house for the children.
“Come one, come all,” she said. “Bring your appetites and we can’t wait to see you there.”
