Cape business burglarized for second time in two months

By Staff

A Cape Coral aluminum company was burglarized for the second time in two months and the owner reported more than $2,000 in items stolen this time.
Cape police received a call on Monday from Paul Graziano, owner of U-Build-It Aluminum Center, at 741 Del Prado Blvd. N., about a burglary at his business. Graziano stated that he parked in front of the building at 1:30 p.m. Thursday and noticed a roll of wire on the ground and a piece of plywood removed from from the side of the building.
He identified several items missing from the business, including a concrete saw, a pancake air compressor, a gas generator, some wires and partial rolls of wires. According to a police report, the stolen items were valued at about $2,196. The damage to the plywood, which was removed with a saw, is $20.
Graziano told police that his building was secure when he left Thursday.
He contacted the police department last month to report a burglary to the business. On Aug. 25, Graziano arrived at his building at about 7:35 a.m. and he noticed a temporary wooden wall had been forced inward, as if it had been kicked in. He looked around and noticed spools of electrical wiring missing.
The stolen wiring was valued at about $4,353, according to a police report.
During the investigation in August, Graziano told an officer that there had been several break-in attempts in the last few months, but he did not report them to the police. He said he was looking into surveillance cameras and an alarm system and had double locked the doors due to the break-in attempts.
On Monday, Graziano stated that he did not give anyone permission to enter his building, damage the plywood and take his property. He will press charges.
Graziano could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
Anyone with information about the incidents can contact the Cape Coral Police Department at 574-3223 or Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at (800) 780-TIPS (8477).
