McCready suffers apparent drug overdose
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Tuesday afternoon that North Fort Myers native, country music singer and reality television star Mindy McCready suffered an apparent drug overdose.
Tony Schall, spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, said deputies responded to a call at 10:38 a.m. at McCready’s family home in North Fort Myers. The call made to deputies involved a reported drug overdose, he said.
McCready is listed in “good” condition at Cape Coral Hospital, where she was admitted, according to hospital officials.
McCready has garnered headlines after a reported affair with pitcher Roger Clemens, an alleged sex tape leaked to the public, and she recently appeared on VH1’s Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew to deal with her substance abuse issues.
Schall said deputies took no action and that McCready is being overseen by her family.
In 2007, McCready was arrested in Lee County for battery and resisting an officer, according to a police report from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. Formal charges weren’t filed for the domestic battery, according to court records from the Lee County Clerk of Courts, but she was adjudicated guilty on the charge of resisting an officer.
