McGrail sets town hall meeting for Saturday

By Staff

Councilmember Kevin McGrail has his second town hall meeting scheduled for Saturday, May 22, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Northwest Regional Library.
McGrail will again focus on roads, discussing funding options for what he said is desperately needed road work.
He said he was to meet with city staff on Wednesday to discuss funding, as well as mapping and paving options.
The price tag was previously identified at roughly $10 million.
“We’ll be talking just a general, macro-view of what it will take (to raise) the $10 million,” McGrail said.
A $500 assessment fee, per lot, was also previously identified as a possible funding mechanism.
He also said that people cannot wait for sewers to be installed for roads to be fixed, as no time frame exists on the utility expansion project being restarted.
“Those roads are already impassable … we can’t wait for the sewers. Anyone who tells you that is not being honest,” McGrail said. “These people have waited literally 40 years for roads.”
McGrail will also address what he said were “code issues” in North Cape, including things like boat parking.
Frank Cassidy from the city’s code division will be in attendance to answer questions.
“The problem is we have a one-size-fits-all system for codes,” McGrail said. “We need to address some these real concerns.”
The proposed Sans Souci development in north Cape also will be discussed.
